Taps break. This is not a controversial position.

A tap is a hardened, fluted, deliberately brittle thing you drive into metal until one of you gives. Everyone in the trade knows it is a consumable. Everyone in the trade still swears when one snaps off in a blind hole on a Sunday.

Most tool companies handle this by selling you a cheap tap and hoping you blame yourself. We would rather sell you a good one and replace it when it goes.

The lifetime warranty is the product

Break it, and we replace it. Not prorated, not “subject to inspection”, not a store credit toward your next purchase. A replacement, in the post.

We do not ask how you broke it. There is no interesting answer to that question. You were tapping a hole, it was harder than the tap, physics happened.

The reason we can say this plainly is that we built the business around it rather than bolting it on. Every replacement is tracked, costed and accounted for as its own line — we know exactly what breakage costs us, which is why we are comfortable promising it instead of hedging.
